Beginner's Floral Carving Class

This 1 day class focuses on the fundamentals of floral carving elements within leather floral carving patterns.

Class limited to 5 students.

This is an in person class in our saddle shop in Moulton, TX.  You and four other craftsmen will work along side Don Gonzales in his shop to begin learning proper floral carving fundamentals.  Topics we will address are proper swivel knife use and techniques, sharpening, beveling practices, other foundational stamps used in carving simple patterns as well as learning how to read floral patterns.

This class is designed as a Beginner level class.  

If you are brand new to leather floral carving, and would like to get a good foundation of tools used and how to use them then this is that class.

Tools/Supplies Needed:

Floral stamping tools, swivel knife, mallet/maul, notebook, pen/pencil, transfer film/paper, strop, and (optional) a headlamp/magnifier.

For the stamping tools, bring what you have and we will guide you on the what you need and whats nice to have.  But you will need a basic set of your own stamps including:  bevelers, matters/bargrounders, swivel knife, pear shaders, veiners, camouflages,  etc.

We will be in the shop, tooling surfaces are provided.  Leather will be provided for us to tool on.

This is a One Day class and we will have discussions on casing leather, carving, stamping, sharpening, and much more.  Bring your questions and we will work on improving together in our leather craft skills.

Class will begin at 9am and end at 5pm.  We will break for lunch from 12-1pm and have some light refreshments and snacks during the day.

*One person per enrollment can take the class.

*Enrollment purchase is nonrefundable, but can be transferred to another class in our shop that we have scheduled if something happens that doesn't allow you to attend.  You can also sell your spot to someone else, but please let us know.
